All right. I would suggest just allowing to do this right before buy card/score VP to fix it. I'm not 100% sure if it's right with the rules though.
(I found it, too, before realizing you'd replied again.)

Unfortunately, it's not, which will lead to mean (valid) bug reports. As I said in the other report, it was something that we heavily considered during development, back when we could add it in without disrupting games in progress.
