By my count, BGA has 300+ games now (Including Alphas)
I have over 100 in my favorites list.
Some them I will only play turn based. Some I will only play real-time. It's often hard to even find a particular game in the list. In my case, I have 30-40 alpha games included.

It would be very nice to be able to sort or filter or otherwise arrange the favorites list.

It could also help if one of the display options was some sort of table instead of the grid with pictures, similar to the details view in Windows Explorer, as opposed to the current, which is more of an icon view.

Filter by Arena mode favorite / Normal mode favorite would be a good option too.

If I could suggest a somewhat more general solution that would also solve this use case: Allow us to create our own groups/lists of games. There are a bunch of other use cases that would be solved by such a feature as well: maintaining a backlog of games to be played, grouping by player counts/preferences, etc.

All of this suggestions sound great.

For me it would also be an improvment if on "Play Arena Mode" only Games where we qualify for Arena would be displayed. It already changes the shading, so why not completely hide games with an ELO below 100?

I know this could be achieved with Custom CSS, but then the bug reports page is not shown.

As a first step, allow favorites as an option for filtering on the games page.

I want to be able to sort the games I love into one group and the games I merely like into another group. So +1 for custom groups.

I would like the one group to show up above the other, so an ability to order the groups to my liking would also be desired. Maybe a dialog for each context that lets you order the groups, with "don't show this group here" as an option. Maybe you'd need a global context for people like me who always want "Loved Group" followed by "Liked Group".

Sorting all the game lists along your ELO ranking - from best to worst - would also be good - so you can see your current top games and you also have an overview of all your games with ELO <100 where you still have to improve to be able to participate in arena mode

I think there are LOTS of ways players want to sort their games. I personally would make a section for Real Time favorites, turn-based favorites, and games to play with friends. I am sure other people have other sections they'd want, so it'd be nice to just let users make their own categories, so somebody could decide on their own that they've got sections for "fun" "word" "strategic" "zombie" and whatever other categories they want without anybody but them needing to know that.

I would love a “to play” list that is distinct from my “favorites “ list and as others have said: arena and simple don’t get the same favorites.

In that suggestion, I have some thoughts about how the filtering asked for here might be formulated.

Although other sorting methods would also be helpful, the way I most want to be able to sort my favorites list is by minimum/maximum number of players. That way when I am organizing a group game I can easily sort out the 2, 3 or 4 minimum player games. I am often looking for 2 player games when waiting for other people in our group to show up but with over 100 games in my list, this can be frustrating.

I agree with the idea of having user-defined groupings -- preferably using the "label" rather than "folder" model, so that a game can be in more than one group.

You can list your favourite games on the games page, including various sorting options:
boardgamearena.com/gamelist?menu=favorite

As a premium member, you are also able to create new lists of games.

@Archduke: I disagree with the implementation. I was expecting change in the Lobby : boardgamearena.com/lobby to allow me to filter between my 50 favorites games.

Here's my initial feedback on what's just been provided.
-- Even with "small" mode, the icons are rather larger than what I see in the lobby (where I use "medium"), so it's making it harder to page through them.
-- The buttons are evidently shortcuts for the Filter menu options, but the behavior is confusing when selecting more than one. Further experimentation indicates that two buttons in the same menu category (e.g., "Best for 2" and "Party Game") are combined with OR, while buttons in different menu categories (e.g. "Cards" and "Science Fiction") are combined with AND. This is arguably correct behavior, but it took me a while to figure out what was going on.
-- I still want user-defined groupings, at the lobby level or easily reachable from there. I'd like to be able to see "shelf for games to play with my Saturday group", and also "shelf for games to play with my siblings". I might define these using a set of filters or by manually attaching a label.

I like the labels function. It'd be nice if there was a section in the lobby that would show them. This would be especially helpful for those of us who like the automatic lobby.
