There are often cases where a player has passed for the round and had enough power charge to fully charge everything in their power bowl and so there is no point in them accepting any charges. Adding something akin to this option (even if it needs to be modified in certain ways) would speed things up because then you don’t have to wait for that player to manually decline the charge.

There are some rare situations towards the end of the game where this might also be appropriate. However, the main case involves when people have passed for the round and have built up their power charging income.

It might also be helpful to add options for automatically declining charge over a certain point value, but that might make the options a bit unwieldy. At the very least, the option to decline all would be helpful.

I agree.
Auto decline what your not already auto accepting.
Or at least still accept free charges like in end of game. ( rather then "decline all" )

I'm not sure if this is what @playnow was suggesting, but I don't think the existing options should be changed to automatically decline what players don't want to automatically accept. But I do think that at least one new option would be worthwhile, and I think an option like "Decline if it costs anything" (i.e., automatically accepting charge that costs 0 VP and automatically declining everything else) would probably be more useful than "Decline all charge," as it's going to be rare for a player to not want to accept free power. (Not unheard of, though; an Itars player might want to decline free charge out of bowl II because they want to use conversions to push power into their Gaia area.)

Yeah, what I had in mind by "decline all charge" was actually "decline all charge (unless free)" like Arcturian suggested. Similarly, I also don't think the current options should be set to decline what players don't automatically accept since sometimes you are sure that you would accept a N point cost, but would likely need to think about anything more than that. Moreover, sometimes you may get multiple charges before your turn and may want to accept an N point cost the first time but decline it the 2nd time. Thus, I think merely adding a 'Decline all charge (unless free)" would be the best option.

I thought adding another pulldown menu to let you choose to auto reject instead of asking.

But I guess just adding one option in the current menu to "decline all charge (unless free)" would be simpler.
It seems this will mostly be used by people that passed for the round and need no power.

It's also useful in the final turn when you know that you will not want to give up any more points.

This is an especially useful option when we are playing with players in different time zones, because it slows down the game a lot if I build an Academy and then someone halfway across the world has to click "Decline charge" (when they're in a position they want to decline all charge) before I can choose my tech tile and end my turn.

Great suggestion. I think a great way to implement it might be to keep the current auto charge drop down, and add another: “If autocharge limit exceeded:” with “Ask” or “Decline” as options.
