Being able to know the running VP total during the game does awkward things to the game and player choices. It might make me more likely to drive towards pushing game end if I know I'm X points ahead. When I play it in real life I don't make those calculations or track that about the other players (yes you can probably keep track if you're using paper or good at that but most of us don't). I just want to be able to have the option to keep that info hidden from all players.
